How to calculate the amount of grounding electrodes
To reduce the shielding effect between grounding electrodes, the installation distance between any two grounding electrodes must be more than 5m. The farther the installation distance between any two grounding electrodes, the fewer grounding electrodes are needed; the closer the installation distance between any two grounding electrodes, the more grounding electrodes are needed.
The calculation formulas for the grounding resistance of a single grounding electrode are shown in equations (1) and (2). The calculation formulas for the grounding resistance of two or more grounding electrodes are shown in equation (3). The calculation formula for the amount of grounding electrodes used is shown in equation (4).
ES-M-300 R=0.2p(1)
ES-M-450 R=0.14p(2)
Rn=R/n/·(3)
n=R/Ryd/·(4)
Where:
R: Grounding resistance of a single grounding electrode (·)
Rn: Grounding resistance of two or more grounding electrodes (Q)
Ryd: Grounding resistance that the grounding device should meet according to standard requirements (Q)
P: Soil resistivity (··m)
n: Number of grounding electrodes
·: Electrode calculation coefficient (usually taken as 0.7~0.85. The more electrodes, the smaller the value; the fewer electrodes, the larger the value). The drag reduction effect is related to local topography, soil, moisture, design and construction, etc. The accurate data should be based on the data obtained from on-site tests.
